I was snapping photos and hope to create another video with the many hampers and Chinese new year theme in Queensbay Mall, Penang. Then I saw a very irresistible purchase I could not forego. Okay, this will be my last purchase in the next few years. Got me a gold bangle that was lost and, in the process, redeemed a free natural pearl necklace of 2 strands in a single long chain. Trust me, I shall be on an austerity drive again in the next several months.

This is to feel good after all the hard work, to pamper me for this year, and to start the year with a bang of a self-gifted gold bangle and a free pearl necklace. I am very much aware that times are bad. But working all those crazy hours will justify my single big purchase of the year.

In the meantime, let me take this opportunity to wish my Chinese readers "A very Happy and Meaningful Chinese New Year in 2023!" Also, remember to stay happy, healthy, and connected while working away to pay those bills.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023, EVERYONE! I was in one of the restaurants downstairs, my condominium, and resting in my unit when I heard loud firecrackers exploding in the dark sky at 12:00 midnight. No, I didn't wait to see the countdown nor reserve a good seat for free.

Let others have the chance and enjoyment. I had seen the firecrackers close up in Marina Bay at the 6-star Ritz Carlton in Singapore many years back and close up at the tower as the lights seemed to come to us.

Here is the blogger and YouTuber in one. This photo was taken in the foyer of Queens Residences WaterFront Q1. Beside is the supermarket that moved in months ago, called Village Grocer. As you exit the glass door, you will find the seafront and about 8 restaurants with a good view of Jerejak Island.

Okay, since today is the first of January 2023 in the year of the rabbit, let's start anew with a good clean slate. Goodbye 2022, the year of many challenges. This was taken at The Brew House restaurant downstairs this afternoon. Jesus is the centre of Christmas which is just around the corner. I am in a festive mood, despite the challenges of daily life. Compared to Jesus' suffering at Golgatha at the cross, my baggage is small in comparison to His. These pictures, as you swipe above, were taken at the SPINK, at Air Itam, Penang. The view from the rooftop of the hotel is so breathtaking. You can see the greenery of Penang Hill with the Kek Lok Si temple on the hillside. From the manager, the SPINK was opened on 28th November 2021 last year. So, it is still relatively new, and we were lucky to experience dining here.

Christmas is coming and we wish you a "Merry Christmas." JESUS is the reason for the season, and that's what Christmas is all about. A baby born in Bethlehem, to save the world from their sin in exchange for eternity in heaven, plus a mansion for every child of God.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The true meaning of Christmas is a phrase that began to appear in the mid-19th century when a shift toward a more secular culture resulted in a national backlash. Christians began to see the secularization of the celebration day of the birth of Christ as the shift toward Santa Claus and gift exchanging replaced the celebration of the advent of Christ and giving to the poor and needy without expectation of receiving anything in return.

The poem A Visit from St. Nicholas (1822) helped popularize the tradition of exchanging gifts, and seasonal Christmas shopping began to assume economic importance. Harriet Beecher Stowe criticizes the commercialization in her story "Christmas; or, the Good Fairy". An early expression of this sentiment using the phrase of "the true meaning" is found in The American Magazine, vol. 28 (1889):

"to give up one's very self – to think only of others – how to bring the greatest happiness to others – that is the true meaning of Christmas."

It is widely accepted that regular physical activity is beneficial for cardiovascular health. Physically active individuals have lower blood pressure, higher insulin sensitivity, and a more favorable plasma lipoprotein profile.
