Received my 7th Nuffnang Cheque

I have banked in my 7th Nuffnang cheque a few days ago and it was just over RM 50.00 after a few months, about 2 or 3 at the most. Now, I am no longer Glitterati status, so it will take even longer to see the amount accumulate since I could no longer post in innit of Nuffnang being a normal member. Thank goodness, I still have my full time employment to work in a home office that I can solely rely on for my financial income. Now I work extra hard to phone clients for payment and to remind them to pay us after emailing the invoices.

AlertPay Cash

I have some cash in my AlertPay account for completing micro jobs online. Just yesterday, I ordered my AlertPay debit card for USD 20.00 plus or so which I will receive in 2 months time at the latest for countries outside USA. I had to scan my latest bill statement and my IC to email them for the confirmation. In the meantime, I will continue with the micro jobs so that the earnings will accummulate for withdrawal every month. 'Sedikit sedikit lama lama jadi bukit." The idiom means a bit at a time and it will become a hill. So, I am expecting my AlertPay debit card for ATM withdrawal of my US cash in May 2012 at the latest.

Georgia/Florida game

Thanks for the post, Kathy Shelton

Even though I graduated from the University of Georgia, we ended up settling in Jacksonville, Florida. As everyone knows that is where the most famous Georgia/Florida game takes place each year. All four years that I went to UGA I travelled south to attend the football game. Some of the most fun times I had during college were when we would go in a big group down to the game. We would always start tailgating very early the morning of the game. I was in a sorority and my boyfriend, who later became my husband, was in a fraternity. We would hang out with all our friends and have such a great time. Now that I live in Jacksonville I don’t have to travel for the game. In fact, most of the time it is really hard to get tickets so we just watch the game on satellite television that we got through direct tv Jacksonville. That is the time of year that a lot of our old friends show up on our doorstep. They are mostly in the same boat as us with no tickets to the game. So we just have our own tailgate here at our house and try to relive the days when we were young and didn’t have a care in the world.

Living from Hand-to-Mouth

In Malaysia, many people are living from hand-to-mouth, without any emergency funds to tide them through in case of unemployment or retrenchment. Others live from pay cheque to pay cheque and before the end of the month is up, their savings are almost empty. It can be stressful living at subsistence level with just sufficient to cover the month. Therefore, we need to look for alternative source of income to supplement our coffer. To say the least, education is very important and is the only way to bring us out of poverty.

Don't be Lazy

We should always do our utmost best in whatever endeavour we are put in - be it our job, vocation or anything else in life. In fact in the Bible, we are told to work until the day we die - as long as we are capable and healthy. Therefore, do not lament why other race is prosperous and are richer! Because it is ingrained in our culture as a Chinese to work hard, be diligent and always find something to do to gain financially the legal way. We don't expect handouts from the government and can survive in any place we migrate to - for business.

Starting fresh

Thanks for the post from Sylvester Campbell

Unfortunately, people do change. That’s what happened to my husband and I. We’ve been growing in different directions for about 3 years now and got to the point that we decided to go our own ways. Luckily, we don’t have any children, which makes this whole “starting over” thing much easier to swallow. We moved out of our apartment and each got our own place. I got a small house and have been learning to navigate the “homeowner waters” one step at a time. First it was closing on the house, then it was moving and setting up the utilities. The moving part was fairly easy because I had friends and family help me get all the big things moved in one day. The utilities took some time and patience. It was a lot to set up. Cable, phone, internet, gas, electric, water, etc. I bundled my cable, phone and internet- check. After researching New York Energy Rates, I chose my energy provider- check. Water was easy being finished with a quick phone call. The last thing I have to do, is finish unpacking the small things out of the boxes.

Serpentine Ang Pow

I got $20 from a relative with the ang pow above. Just loved the serpentine design of the dragon for the year 2012. I also got a 4-figure ang pow from my boss - in appreciation of my yearly work. Chinese New Year in 2012 is certainly a time to celebrate the many blessings that come upon my life with the various sources of income - regardless of the amount. I also just came back from Hatyai where I spend 3 days and 2 nights with my family - going for shopping sprees, dining and enjoying foot massaging.
